Rafael Sacks

Rafael Sacks is Professor of Civil Engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. His research focuses on Building Information Modeling (BIM), Lean Construction and Digital Twin Construction (DTC). He is director of the National Building Research Institute at the Technion and heads the Virtual Construction Laboratory. Research projects in the VC Lab include development of BIM-enabled lean production control systems, BIM technology and Digital Twin Construction (see CBIM, BIM2TWIN and AM2PM). He is the lead author of the “BIM Handbook“, recently released in its 4th edition, and of the book “Building Lean, Building BIM: Changing Construction the Tidhar Way“. He is a co-author of the book “Twin Systems: Digital Twins in the Built Environment” and has published 110 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, 135 conference papers, and numerous book chapters.
